On Wednesday 30th April, we held our first taster session of the season.

12 brave paddlers joined us for an evening of fun and games on the water, and there were plenty of smiles and laughter all around.&nbsp;

Well done to all those who joined in, and we hope to see you on the water in the not too distant future

The Paddle UK big paddle clean up returns from 24th May- 8th June. We will be organising a river clean up at Market Yard to participate in this event. Keep an eye out for further information over the coming weeks.

The big paddle clean up is back

Our Tuesday evening sessions are in full swing, and last night was no different. Sessions can be tailored to what our paddlers want to do, but usually involve a paddle, working on skills and then fun and games.

We are a friendly, inclusive group and welcome paddlers from all abilities. We ask that paddlers are aged over 18, although those between 15-17 can join in once a coach has assessed their ability. We have had a number of new starters over recent months who have embraced the supportive environment that our Tuesday paddlers provide.

A great start to the week

Our Wednesday evening club sessions resume on Wednesday 23rd April 2025. These fun sessions are for children and young people aged 8-17 years, and you can book your space by accepting the invite that will be sent out on Spond nearer the date.

Any attendees must be members and the session will begin at 6.45pm, so please arrive by 6.30pm at the latest to ensure you can get kitted up in time for the start of the session.&nbsp;

Our Tuesday evening sessions continue throughout the year and are suitable for adults, and at the discretion of the coach, competent paddlers over the age of 15. If you are unsure if this applies to you, please get in touch to discuss. Coaches are available in person on club nights, or alternatively you can email the club on info@frome-canoe-club.org.uk and your message will be forwarded on to the appropriate person.&nbsp;

In April 2025, we will be launching a brand new website for Frome canoe club. Our new website will have all information for new starters, along with a calendar of events for existing members. This calendar is linked to Spond so you will still be able to sign up for any events via Spond.

The website will have a link to the booking website for the hiring of our function rooms, along with the calendar of availability.&nbsp;

For those who are new to paddling, we will be offering Discover award courses over the summer period which give you the skills needed to join in at our club sessions. 



Safeguarding and welfare

We are fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of our members, particularly children and adults at risk. We believe everyone has a responsibility to report any concerns about potential harm or abuse. If you have any safeguarding or welfare concerns that you would like to discuss, we have dedicated club welfare officers who can help and advise you. In the first instance, please email us at welfare.fcc@gmail.com or speak to Steve Scammell or Lou Singer in person at the club.



Frome canoe club is a Paddle UK affiliated club. We welcome people from age 8 upwards and cater for all abilities. Having fun and providing a supportive environment are all part of our club ethos. We welcome and support complete beginners through to experienced paddlers, helping everyone to participate and improve skills in whichever discipline they choose. 


Here you will find the details of the coaches, instructors, leaders and people with club roles who will be volunteering their time to help you on your paddling journey over the 2025 season. 

Our modern clubhouse has all the facilities you need, including male and female changing rooms, an accessible shower room/toilet, hot showers and a kitchen area. 
The changing rooms have lockers which are suitable for your personal belongings, and can be operated with a £1 coin.

We have direct river access from our jetty onto the river Frome, and this can be accessed either via steps or the seal launch.

Function rooms available to hire

Did you know that you can hire out our function rooms for your events? Our rooms and facilities are a fantastic space and are regularly hired out for birthday parties, local groups, corporate events and everything in between. 

We welcome you to attend a taster session before committing to join the club, or before completing a Discover course. If you are new to paddling, we can support and guide with everything you need to get on the water. 

Taster sessions cost £5 per person, per session and must be booked in advance.

Join us

Frome Canoe Club offers fantastic value for money with our membership fees and operates on a rolling 12 month membership.
Included in the cost of your membership is the use of all club kit, including a vast range of boats from different disciplines, along with all personal safety equipment. You do not need to buy any kit to join Frome Canoe Club.

At the clubhouse, we have changing facilities, hot showers, accessible access, an accessible toilet/shower room, and kitchen facilities. 


Programme of events

Our programme of events is constantly being updated, however here you will see what the plans are for the coming months. You will need to be a member to sign up to these events, and you can sign up to an event by visiting the club Spond page. 

What's on

The clubhouse was opened in May 2007 and provides top of the range facilities for canoeists and other community groups. 

Our river access via steps with a large low level jetty onto a flat section of the river Frome coupled with our meeting/ changing rooms gives the perfect venue for watersports courses, contact us for more information.
